Cat safety in water
Always be cautious around open water and never rush your pet into new experiences. To keep your cat safe around water we recommend keeping them on-leash at all times and where possible, have them wear a life jacket or buoyancy aid (read on to find more about our pet buoyancy aids).
Keeping your cat cool on hikes
The best step you can take is to avoid the hottest parts of the day (midday usually) and aim for very early or late hikes. Take plenty of refreshments and water, such as cat friendly fruit (such as apples that are full off water) or liquid snacks (such as squeezy pouches), especially if your cat doesn't tend to eat or drink much whilst out. A stainless steel pet water bottle or collapsible cat bowls can be a great tool for cat hydration when on-the-go. If travelling with a cat backpack, a cooling matt, damp towls and a battery powered fan can be great accessories to go in the backpack for a cat. If possible, choose hikes with running water nearby.

How to prevent heat-stroke in cats
Heatstroke occurs when the cat's temperature heat generation exceeds the cat's ability to loose heat, thus overheating and causing the cat's body to shut down through various injuries.
This can be prevented by many of our tips listed above and avoid exercise on hot surfaces, ensure drinking water is always available and offered and know the signs to look out for.
