The K9 Dog Backpack

So many people love the idea of buying a K9 backpack for their dogs. They have this vision of hiking mountains, or using a scooter through cool cities. They then find a number of websites offering the backpacks and struggle to find the right one, determine which size is right, understand what a booster block is and soon enough the dream vanishes and they will never experience the K9 backpack adventure. I hope by the end of this article you will have the knowledge required on these backpacks so you can live the 'travelling with pets' dream.

Meet Buddha the Pomeranian! Buddha loves nothing more than being an adventure pet and we love the fact that he is in our K9 Sport Sack Air 2 !

What Is a K9 Dog Backpack?

Whether shops call it a backpack or sport sack, all you need to know is that it's the same thing. The K9 sport sack is a solution to you and your pets going on hikes, adventures, city tours, runs and on a bike. It is all about enabling you for travelling with pets. The K9 dog backpack sits on your back like a normal backpack only in this case you put your dog inside it and there are extra benefits and features which mean carrying such a weight is made far easier. Once they are snugly placed in the backpack they can venture along with you whilst experiencing the world pretty much at the same eye line height as you have. Perfect!

Why Would You Need a K9 Sport Sack?

  • Your dog might not be much of a walker
  • You might like to do walks which are far too much for a smaller or older dog
  • You may love climbing mountains which are too difficult for your companion
  • You might use a bike or E-scooter and want them to join you

A Little Fact..

A little fact for you: 40 lb (18kg) is the weight limit for these bags but the K9 Knavigate has a weight limit of 50 lb (23 kg). Don't try these with your English Mastiff!  (343lbs is the heaviest weight ever recorded for a dog)

The Challenge When Choosing The Right K9 Sport Sack

There is no problem with the quality of these, but choosing which one you need out of two of the major variants does cause a headache for many. Many websites do not clearly explain the difference between the two main K9 Sport Sacks. This article will explain the difference in the table below.

Variant 3: K9 Sport Sack Knavigate

Knavigate

This backpack is the next level up (an upgrade in features but also in price) compared to the two I previously mentioned. It has extra support and some of the other Knavigate perks are listed below:

  • - New lap belt on all sizes
  • - It enables you to distribute the weight between the shoulders and your waist
  • - Hip pockets
  • - Storage pocket extends underneath the pet base to bottom of frame
  • - Lumbar support straps for your dog
  • - Sizing from XS-XL

Aaargh I Got The Wrong Size..

It is better to buy a backpack which is just a little bit too big rather than too small. This is because we have an accessory known as a booster block to boost your dogs height in the bag and these work very well and are bought by so many K9 Backpack owners for that extra bit of adjustment. If your dog then grows, you can remove the block and the bag is still a perfect fit.

Notice in the video below that Suzanne has the Air Plus and she has detached the front from the bag. They are also using the comfy booster block for Reggie.
