What Is a K9 Dog Backpack?
Whether shops call it a K9 dog backpack or K9 sport sack, all you need to know is that it's the same thing. The K9 sport sack is a solution to you and your pets going on hikes, adventures, city tours, runs and on a bike. It is all about enabling you for travelling with pets. The K9 dog backpack sits on your back like a normal backpack only in this case you put your dog inside it and there are extra benefits and features which mean carrying such a weight is made far easier. Once they are snugly placed in the backpack they can venture along with you whilst experiencing the world pretty much at the same eye line height as you have. Perfect!
Why Would You Need a K9 Sport Sack?
- Your dog might not be much of a walker
- You might like to do walks which are far too much for a smaller or older dog
- You may love climbing mountains which are too difficult for your companion
- You might use a bike or E-scooter and want them to join you
What is the Weight Limit for a K9 Sport Sack?
30lb is the weight limit for the Air 2, 40 lb (18kg) is the weight limit for the Sport Plus 2. The K9 Knavigate has a weight limit of 50 lb (23 kg) and the Rover can manage an incredible 36kg!
Did you know: 343 lbs is the heaviest weight ever recorded for a dog?
What Is Different Between the K9 Sport Sack Air 2 and the K9 Sport Sack Air 2 Plus?
Basically, the difference is mentioned in the name. The PLUS has an extra, detachable small bag for your accessories to be held in. The air 2 (without the plus) does not have this and is only used for carrying your dog.
If you are a hardcore adventurer and you want more bells and whistles such as support on the mid-section and much much more then you should consider moving up to the K9 Knavigate or even bigger with the K9 Rover.

K9 Sport Sack Knavigate
This backpack is the next level up (an upgrade in features but also in price) compared to the two I previously mentioned. It has extra support and some of the other Knavigate perks are listed below:
- - New lap belt on all sizes
- - It enables you to distribute the weight between the shoulders and your waist
- - Hip pockets
- - Storage pocket extends underneath the pet base to bottom of frame
- - Lumbar support straps for your dog
- - Sizing from XS-XL
Aaargh I Got The Wrong Size..
It is better to buy a backpack which is just a little bit too big rather than too small. This is because we have an accessory known as a booster block to boost your dogs height in the bag and these work very well and are bought by so many K9 Backpack owners for that extra bit of adjustment. If your dog then grows, you can remove the block and the bag is still a perfect fit.
Notice in the video below that Suzanne has the Air Plus and she has detached the front from the bag. They are also using the comfy booster block for Reggie.
