Do dogs need a Danish Design 2 in 1 Dog Coat?
If they are young, short-haired or simply do not seem comfortable in wet and windy weather then a coat will be very beneficial just like it is for you and I.
What happens if a dog gets too cold?
A dog who gets too cold can develop hyperthermia. In a serious situation where the weather is VERY cold, the muscles will get stiff and heart rate can slow down along with other symptoms.
When is it too cold for dogs?
Dogs are typically ok until it drops to below 0 degrees Celsius. Once it gets colder than this a coat can make quite a difference to short-haired and smaller dogs.
My dog is a Labrador and has thick fur, does he need a Danish Design 2 in 1 Dog Coat?
Generally speaking, dogs that have a thick coat are protected from the cold and can almost be considered waterproof in some cases! Still, in very cold temperatures a coat like this could help to protect them from the elements such as wind and rain. The most important thing is to ensure comfort and a good fit.
How do I remove the inner fleece winter layer?
It is simply attached with Velcro which is very easy to remove and then you are left with a waterproof, water-resistant summer layer that is lightweight but won't make you too hot. This is a great option for the larger warmer dogs who don't need the inner fleece.
How does a lead attach to the coat?
There is a little leash portal (hole) in both the fleece and winter layers making leash attachment easy. Keep in mind this is not a harness hole.
How do you ensure this coat actually keeps the heat in?
There are some little leg straps that ensure the fit is snug and this drastically helps to keep the heat in. This is similar to when we pull the little togs on our human coats to tighten the bottom and keep the heat in.
How do you measure your dog for this coat?
You should measure from the base of the neck/collar part down to the tailbone. For the widest part of the ribcage, there is the Velcro adjustable girth strap.
Should dogs wear a waterproof dog coat?
Many dogs have a thick undercoat to protect them from the cold and rain, but what about those short-haired dogs who don't? French bulldogs, Boston Terriers, Boxers, Poodles, Maltese, Scottish Terriers and the list goes on. Dogs can be at risk of developing hypothermia especially if they are very young, old or short-haired especially when the climate is very cold and wet on an adventure.
When you are all set for walkies around the block or an all-out hike, make sure you are not heading out to a torrential downpour and if you are then make sure you and your dogs are prepared.
This is a high-quality dog coat and it performs outstandingly, especially for the price tag. A waterproof, breathable, and windproof dog jacket which is perfect for all of the different weather scenarios.
Use it in winter and summer and use it easily with a harness. Don't forget it's also machine washable. What more do you need?
